The company

Beverley-based Acklams Coaches is a reputable, family-run firm that prides itself on providing reliable coach services for a variety of purposes including holidays, day trips, concerts and school runs. 

The problem

Acklams employs 120 people, most of whom work as drivers, so it’s a top priority – for the drivers’ own safety and that of their passengers, as well as other road users – that they are competent to drive. 

This focus on safety and wellbeing naturally means that drug and alcohol testing is a crucial and explicit part of Acklams’ policy. Random tests are conducted in-house, but in the spirit of openness and fairness, the company wished to assure their workforce that this testing is completely independent by using the services of a trusted third party that possesses state-of-the-art equipment and can generate instant results.

We also pull out all the stops to fit around the drivers’ shifts – even if that means arriving on-site before 5am – and therefore minimise the inconvenience to our client’s workforce and business (especially one where timetables are so crucial).
